2022-2023 DEC Tree Planting Project
The work below represents a community-based planting and land stewardship project that looked to build on the success of the deer exclosures used for the eight educational gardens located on the grounds of the OβHara Nature Center, use the best practices learned from the garden exclosures; and apply those principles to specific areas in the Irvington Woods Park (259 acres) to keep the new, old and future tree plantings protected from the browsing of the White-tailed deer. In addition, students from middle school and high school helped in the designing, planting, and ongoing maintenance of the planting sites.
