My name is CJ Reilly. I am a graduate student at Cornell University in Natural Resources and the Environment (NRE) π, specializing in Forest Ecology and Management π². My work focuses on forest ecosystem processes πΏ and the vital role of communities β especially youth π©βπ§βπ¦ β in stewarding biodiversity, from microbial networks below ground π¦ to forest dynamics above π³. Through both research and practice π¬, I collaborate with recreation groups π΅ββοΈ, school districts π«, and local residents π‘ to foster greenspace stewardship π± and promote long-term ecosystem resilience π. Currently on academic leave, I serve as Director of the OβHara Nature Center ποΈ, where I manage urban community forestry grants π³π° and oversee land management for Irvington Woods Park as the villageβs certified arborist πΏπͺ. In this role, I develop environmental education programs π, implement New York State Science Standards-aligned field courses for students π©βπ¬π¨βπ¬, and contribute to Harvard Forestβs Schoolyard Ecology Program π. These experiences continue to shape my commitment to bridging ecological research π, community engagement π€, and practical conservation efforts π. π© Letβs connect: cjr272@cornell.edu
