π Cornell Field Biology Curricular Field Journal π¬
This field journal documents my 14-week journey in Cornell's NTRES 2100 Field Biology course, showcasing key insights, practices, and curriculum applications. It serves as a resource for developing a year-long, hands-on field biology program for the Irvington School District, inspired by Dr. Marc Goebelβs renowned undergraduate curriculum. My goal is to adapt this program for high school students, aligning it with New York State Next Generation Science Standards to ensure relevance and rigor. As Director of Education and Head Land Steward at Irvington Woods Parkβs Village Nature Center, my mission is to cultivate environmental stewardship from Kindergarten through 12th grade. This journal provides a framework for designing lessons that blend experiential learning with science standards, engaging students and the community in meaningful connections with nature. Additionally, this journal serves as a curriculum blueprint for my ongoing work in Irvington, where I collaborate with the Village and School District to deliver hands-on, standards-aligned environmental education. Special thanks to Dr. Marc Goebel and the teaching assistants for their mentorship, which has been vital to this project. I hope this resource inspires the next generation of environmental stewards.
